    So not Gold then!

0.16% of total SMSF assets are in a combination of Art, Collectables and Metals.

Some way to go before we can start making a difference then.

Probably because you do not reside in India - where all the eSuperfund Accounts which hold metal are seen. :p

    Oh crap.
Maybe there is a reason why none of your high net wealth clients are a result of metals investment.

How do you transform high net wealth individuals into low net wealth retirees? Advise him or her to hand their money over to a financial planner who will invest it in managed funds aka shares.

    Kind Regards

There's a language censor on here for a reason.

    Personal attacks are also unwarranted.

Over half my net worth has been made from trading the stock market - but all pre-2009. You have to time your markets, and right now stock markets are not looking very inviting - neither RE for that matter. :)

It is very interesting to me to see how small the overall allocation of peoples savings is to precious metals. Considering it has been a way of storing wealth for so many centuries it is amazing to me that over 50 to 75 years it has got to a point where average joe thinks it insane to own some.

No disrespect GP but seriously? NR is the worst of the bunch for personal attacks and I've never seen him pulled up for it (I've personally been on the receiving end of many frothy mouthed tirades). Not trying to derail the thread but I'm quite bemused to see you state that.

Back on topic - with so much super money held in SMSF's is it any wonder the govt and insto funds are trying to regulate them into oblivion? Must really drive them nuts, people actually trying to do stuff for themselves. My main question is what is their next trick to try and screw us?

Personally, I don't or likely ever will have any PM's in my SMSF. If I did so I would have to declare it to various govt authorities and that to me is a big no no. If I were to own any PM's, not that I do of course :p, it would be in my own name and away from prying eyes.
