I have on occasions seen some coins I would like to buy from America,I know the postage price is unavoidable but the duty at this end makes it far too expensive, does anyone know a way around it.
Yeah mate, I feel the same. They have such good deals over there, sometimes even when you include shipping, but the 10% duty kills it. There are some private on-shipping companies. I use them for buying car parts. You buy an American address and they on-ship to you in Aus. Unfortunately, in my experience they will always mark the correct value of the product on the package which gets stung for duty at customs. Maybe if you make an American coin collecting friend or a relative that doesn't mind committing mail fraud.
If you think that silver is going to the moon then a 10% duty should not stop you as you will get that back and more when you sell it at $5000 per ounce
The European junks are not cheap, they are not sold as silver content, but coins only US and OZ treated their history coins as just silver content
+1 i will write whatever you want on the decleration so long as you have paid with cash deposit not paypal
