Makes me wonder how these sellers in Germany have 7 sets for sale, when mintage is only 1000 and most of us in Australia couldn't even get a set at 1201am this morning!
$900 or so at the top, but later, I saw some sold for <$500 on Ebay this one cost about US$380 or so for an average US buyer from Perth Mint (because credit card companies charge 3% foreign transaction fee) . So sold on Ebay for a little over $500 seems a fair deal NOT that I would buy a set.
Few minutes ago I saw the 1 oz Snake again available in Perth Mint website. Just the time to put it in cart and choose payment details, and quantity was gone. Site says to go to Step 1 and remove the unavailable coin (the only one I wanted). How annoying is this Perth Mint policy, makes me so disappointed!!! Alex.
More coins get added to the system throughout the morning. It is quite dissapointing how many 3 coin sets are allocated for local consumption.
We saw the same thing with the Dragons, initially very high but the price dropped significantly over time. Speculators buy up big and then offload them at very high prices but they don't want to get left with old stock so they keep relisting at lower prices until they all go. It is worth waiting a bit for most of the releases that you missed at issue, of course it is much better to get them at issue price.
I was going to probably order the 1oz / 3 coin set but went to bed instead, you can still get the mouse and ox for 104 at BB, so no guarantee the snake will double in price. Will anyone be giving up a 10oz bar this year for the snake 1oz? Would probably grab them for issue price if i see them but not going into bidding wars. I am year of the snake, so i have a little interest in it for that reason. I still have a dragon i paid jis 160 for, would break even selling it via ebay.
I think the 3 coin set is the one collect in terms of growth potential early and later on. Mintage of 1000 with super low allocations to the Australian market.
There are more people queued up outside the mint now than they have proofs based on a figure I heard yesterday. Looks like lots of "phone a friend" sorts here as well.
I am trying to log in on Perthmint site, 20 min. +, still NO luck. It is such a joke. They changed the time for new product, to day time in the U.S., but ALL hot coins are not available. Now the coins seems available, but cannot even log in. "You are not able to login at the moment. We apologise for the inconvenience." Edits, Finally, checked out, now the order is processing, hopefully, they are not going to tell me coins are unavailable after another 30 minutes of waiting Edits again, 3-coin set is GONE, so forget it, wasted my 1 hour time.
Just called Perth Mint & ordered the 3 coin silver proof set over the phone! There isn't free shipping with phone orders so no point trying to hit the $400 value.
Eargely waiting in queue now. Submitting, hopefully it goes through with my proof and typeset. 10 min wait is killing me hahhaa.
