Does anyone know of anyone who refines silver in the Sydney area and returns it as cast bars?

I have just been quoted $350 for the kg refined, but not sure about the price.

Charging $350 for what? Turning 1kg of your scrap silver in to a 1kg bar? You can sell your silver, depending on what it is, for pretty close to spot, and then just buy a 1kg bar for about $760. You will be several hundred dollars ahead if you do it this way.

I have got about 2.5kg of silver scrap that contains a minimum of 47%, or if I'm lucky 79% silver. Wasn't able to track it back because it's been lying around for quite some time.
The service I have been offered was to refine the scrap and return .999 bars at $350/kg.

Obviously, if someone would make me an offer I would sell the scrap the way it is now. Any takers?

My question was, are there other people in the Sydney area which offer refining services, so that I can compare prices?

    Hi SilverMick
Try the guys at the Gold Company
Suite 1, Level 1, Piccadilly Tower, 133 Castlereagh St, Sydney. (phone 90205150)
I know they buy silver and gold scrap. They have an XRF machine so they should be able to give you a better estimate on the actual silver content of your scrap.
