Hi, I am planning on keeping my 2011 1oz BU silver panda's for a long time. Does anyone know if the original mint plastic capsules are made from pvc? As I know this will damage them in the long term!

Yep, only the pre-2006 Pandas came in the PVC OMP.

Hopefully NCS can now reverse the damage PVC residues can leave.

The recent pandas don't ship in PVC, but sadly that isn't the only source of contamination. Debris and chemical residue from the minting and cleaning processes can also lead to white spots, and I have seen a lot of recent spotted pandas (an emerging species? :) ) for sale.

Yes, out of 90 silver pandas that I have 13 so far have spotted! Not good but what can you do, found out today from the forum that there is no point washing them as the chemicals that cause the spotting has been stamped into the metal, just a matter of time before it comes to the surface! So its down to pot luck which coins spot or not! Not good whatever way you look at it!
