    Hi All,

Noticed there is not much love for Silver Panda coins, see lots of threads where people are offloading Silver Panda coins. When I started collecting back in 2010/11 - these were hotter than the hottest thing in the world but now these silver bears are struggling to find love and home. Even the big coins like Micro Dates, 1999 Sheriff, 2000 Mirror, 2001 small D etc are selling at half of what they were in 2011.

    Thoughts welcomed.....

I think it might just be the space in general. Anyone that wanted them already has them.

Like stamps, it was a generational thing. I don't think too many young people are getting into coins, just like not many are getting into stamps.

At a wild guess I'd say the bulk of the members here are middle aged +. Fourty being middle aged for reference sake.

spot on paranoid. I'm 50. I'm sure donka is bump'n 40. Young kids are all about cryptos. Great observation. Stamps in the same category as a precious metal though? hmmm. I don't know if I buy that. But what do i know. All i know is silver languishes here at 16 and gold 1300. maybe this a forever dead market. heck i know 40 year olds who have completely walked away from this space and went hog wild into crytos to seek their fortune. Guys very well known.

    Indeed
Nobody buys silver pandas even at spot.

P.s. where to get reasonably priced panda coins?

Sorry, just to clarify I was comparing stamp collecting with coin collecting. This being seperate to precious metal coins even though I understand the overlap.

I'm sure the younger generation would still get excited by a bar of silver or gold as it has that look of value. Just as in movies etc.

Giant pandas spotted in Chinese nature reserve

    http://www.euronews.com/2018/04/03/giant-pandas-spotted-in-chinese-nature-reserve

Wild giant pandas have been spotted in a nature reserve in southwest China's Sichuan Province.

Staff at the Anzihe Nature Reserve released the footage, taken using hidden cameras. They believe the pandas are a mother and baby.

The discovery is important as its shows the animals are successfully reproducing. The reserve is recovering from serious damage caused by an earthquake ten years ago.

What is wrong with going 30 gm?
Will you stop buying petrol if they sell by the liters?

I think what he/she is saying is, it is 1.1035 gr short of a 1 oz coin, but they keep the premium the same? i.e. why do they give themselves a pay increase? The grams isn't the issue. The loss of the gram, plus charging the same price, is the issue?

I know in nz 6 months ago you couldn't get a panda for less than $65nz now I can pick them up for round $40nz so a lot less interest here .I think prices will climb again when the Chinese realize real estate in China is over priced or silver and gold go up.
But if you love something give it away I give pandas and Perth lunar coins as gifts to friends and family to encourage the next generation

So your issue is not with weight of the coin but the price. Got it. Thanks.
Ya, me too, would like to know where to buy panda near spot.
Would back up my truck for those 5 ozers any year.

Until cryptos get squashed. Then they’ll realize the true value of the stuff that is hard to get from the earth.

I did buy some 2016 Pandas from Bullion exchange for line 19.00 last year. Can’t remember what spot price was, but it wasn’t much over spot. The premiums on the BU 30g Pandas are ridiculous. Unless there is a deal, I’ll stay away.

WTF man ? you can't buy pandas @ spot !
how come you don't know that ?

    Look, it's like this.
You make your coin on the purchase price. Whatever you are personally comfortable with, then " you little beauty".

No one gets to dictate what a fair price is, unless you succumb, to their criteria !

So, untill spot reduces to $15, forget cutting a deal @ $20
Now, if that is the case , then there will be no sellers, as, most paid more than fifteen.

Right, when spot hits $40, go searching for pandas , and you will still come accross a premium, as against the market.

The fact you can't get pandas right now, is the game !

Here's my point, buy a roll of pandas, and see what you are offered from a dealer !
    :)
