    Everywhere...simultaneously

I feel that most of the rounds designed by CD are interesting and some very well sculpted but not quite interesting enough for me to put any money down on any of them. I did not like the first design at all (the Debt and Death); I felt it wasn't an appealing design in spite of the fact that the idea behind the design was an interesting one. What really turned me off was the break down and fighting between CD and the MM....some of it came off as very immature. I do understand why CD would be very upset, but there's better and worse ways to handle a series of problems like that....the sort of character assassination that CD engaged in at times came off as very immature IMHO.

I got a little tired of what seems to me as nothing more than permabull hype that people like CD and many others use as a way to drum up fear and thus their own interests. I mean, if these people are so smart and if they have been into pm's for as long as they have been, they should have been much more clued into the ensuing massacre of the gold and silver spot prices. After all, most of them have been talking about manipulation for a very long time and now many of them claim that the reason that they were caught off guard is because of manipulation. Like, really?

I wish CD no ill will....I really like and appreciate his educational videos and writing, I just have not enough interest in the rounds he had produced to make any purchases from the MM or any of the new distributors.

That doesn't mean that I am perfect or after perfection in anyone....I am not.

Just so you know I was looking at the Enemy unknown coin and its not a official Chris Duane coin. After Chris left SBSS the mulligan mint decided to mint some new coins using the SBSS name. Chris's new line is just Silver Shield. Here is an e-mail I received from a bullion selling company about it.:

Quote "The website below is actually operated exclusively by the Mulligan Mint - not in partnership or with authorization of Chris Duane. The "Enemy Unknown" round is therefore not actually an authorized SBSS product. We will not be carrying this product, nor any other products released by the Mulligan Mint, or any future products claiming to be part of the SBSS series.

Chris Duane is now releasing his designs through a new ISO certified mint, under the Silver Shield series. We will be carrying these products going forward. Currently these are shown under the SBSS page on our website, but this will eventually be updated to Silver Shield.

    Thanks"

There are already 7 coins for the Silver Shield series

    -1/2oz Jesus
    -1oz Bitcon
    -1oz New year
    -2oz new year
    -2oz warbird
    -5oz new year

Wow! Thank you everybody. That is a whole load more info than I thought was possible. I can see why people started to get fed up - too many coins in too many options to try and think about having a complete set. Sad realy as I love so many of these coins.

There is still a lot I don't understand, but I am continuing to research.

Thank you jjennings089!! An excellent post!

So the way to tell what coion you have is by the date? No other differences between them?

I can see why so many people went off the series. What were they thinking? Too many options/combinations. I have started to get a little hooked on having all of a certain run - but that is just too much to be collecting of one thing. Well, I have a few that I liked the look of coming in the post. Best leave it at that. I wonder how much more they might have sold if they had just kept things simple?

Thanks again for the rather excellent information. :)

Yes... MM went into bankruptcy and was sold on the 3rd. The mint was taken over by the court and was making whatever it could sell to pay off debts to creditors.

I'm still confused as to which coins I own! LOL

I have a Slave Queen. It is a 2013 coin.

According to this site http://imgur.com/a/JYFOI the back looks like "2013 SBSS Chris D & Mulligan Mint Version" with a side note "2013 Shared in early of the year by Chris Duane and then used the rest of the year by Mulligan Mint and Rob Gray."

According to jjennings rather excellent post it could be:

    2013 Slave Queen
    BU 80,000 est.
    Wide Reed
    Proof 8,000 est.
2013 Slave Queen Members only BU/Proof Wide

    Mine has a wide Reed.

It was sold to me as a Mulligan Mint coin. So I can assume it is second half of 2013. There is no COA.

So is it Wide Reed Proof 8000 est?
    Is it members only BU/Proof

    Any Clues?

I swear SBSS and SS purposely make "error" coins. It seems like almost every coin they release has an error version, with either different edge, or wrong stamp, or wrong obverse or reverse....etc etc etc......Is the quality control that bad?? Do they even check the dies before they start striking? there is no way all these could be mistakes....Now on SGB they have the new 5oz New years round with the trivium error on one side.......this is one of the things that's made me almost stop collecting SBSS, I just buy the ones I like now....all I bought so far this year is the 5oz freedom girl

agreed. whoops, we did it again. they have gone thru pretty much every variation with the dyes that they could. and all by mistake?
i have stopped buying them now, i have a rather healthy collection of 2012/2013 rounds. only missing a few. and i can live with that :p lol

Well this series is dead to me now......just saw on SGB that they are re-releasing the cannabis round and freedom-girl round with the new obverse. Wont be buying anymore from silver shield....to many coins too many variations to many errors.....its totally lost my interest.

Agreed. Too many re-releases, not enough original designs. When I saw freedom girl for the first time, I thought, wow, they really have something here. If they could have achieved that level or design with subsequent releases, this would have been a timeless series. It's turned into complete garbage though.

Designs are recycled numerous times, the newest designs are a hideous anti bitcoin design, a design featuring Jesus (a bit offensive to me to use the image on bullion), and a don't tread on me snake. Completely unoriginal. Insulting to buyers. I've moved over to Geiger silver bars. Now those are some pretty pieces.

I never liked those SBSS coin designs at all.
    Too much gimmick.
    Too artificial.
At some point I even begun to think that they actually wanted to ridiculize the people that buy silver coins.
Take for ex those skeletons/skulls. Come on, they rather target a horror movie fanclub than people that stack silver for any reason (anti inflation-theft, numismatics, gifts,...).
I think the nice resource of the latter went with the Mulligan Mint(s original folks). They apparently were replaced by amateurs that started to act as idiots upto even morons, and coins designs that became more ugly simple computer-drawn comic-style than anything else.
Hard words but it's MY opinion, for what it represents as the 1 fish in the school.
SBSS looks indeed like having been an attempt to reap some cheap profits from previous peoples better jobs.
As you word it very well: too many coins too many variations too many errors. It became a commercial machine that shows its lazy middlefinger to customers. They probably invested more in advertising than in their product.

Btw, yesterday I saw the Comex position again a tad lower at a same price (short term indicator) and all the bear talk on the forum made me changing my mind and I chosed to buy silver. I bought a pile mostly of original Mulligan Mint coins, upto twice spot for proofs, and the dealer (that I knew from the past) told me that he refrained on taking stock from SBSS. For the same reasons.
This is my first large 'numismatic' purchase. Future will tell if it was a success in that aspect, when I pass them to similar minded, at a price or as gift.

These SBSS coins have completely gone to shiit. Chris Duane sold himself out to greed. When some of the coins appreciated to over $50, he minted the same one again to make a quick buck, crashing the price back down. "Error" coins were not errors, but minted in low numbers to artificially create rarity. C'mon, no competent designer or mint would so many errors. The last straw for me was that he basically tells you to stop buying generic bars or rounds because they're terrible investment, but instead only buy his coins:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oT9zfPriCNM

Ironically, his coins are nothing more than generic bullion coins.
