I'm new to this forum but have been stacking silver for a while. I recently ordered 20 ozt. of generic silver from APMEX and recieved three oversized rounds that had a total weight of 20.060 ozt. All three coins were from different mints. One coin weighed 6.015 ozt., one weighed 6.040 ozt. and the third weighed 8.005 ozt. The third coin was noticably thicker than the other two, but, all three coins were stamped "ONE HALF POUND FINE SILVER .999. How can they all be marked "ONE HALF POUND" when one of them outweighs the other two? What am I missing here? I do realize that the two similar coins each weigh 1/2 troy pound and the odd coin weighs 1/2 avdp pound, but why would a mint stamp a round using avdp weight?
