I had this happen kinda. they said they will pay by paypal then there courier will pick it up! they said they sent the money a fake email was sent to me by paypal saying your money wont go through till you pay the courier any way long story short i called paypal asking if i had anything pending or if it was fake they said it was fake from what i described. also the person who 'sent' the money also sent a fake police email that i was commiting fraud.

had a gut feeling and my mrs was like just do it she was wrong haha, i dont like paypal now lol.

Inside the local Police Station lobby is always a good place to meet and conduct high value f2f transactions with strangers IMO....unless you have an outstanding warrant or summat. No need for the mates that way.

Had about 6 scammers offering to buy my car on GUMTREE using an agent to pick up car as they were on a ship and asked me to open PAYPAL account so they could pay me I passed didn't even reply to them .I think PAYPAL are going the way of WESTERN UNION avoid them.

like you and everybody says, it sounds off -- like that joke, it looks like shit, smells like it, feels like it, even "tastes" like it ... don't step in it!

besides, in general, too big a cut goes to paypal - if you are going to give them the merchandise in person offer to discount it for the amount that paypal would charge and do the transaction in cash. if they don't trust you, fine, because you don't trust them.

or forward them a link to this thread and tell them they are in the minority to think it is not sounding "iffy."
