we all know that 36 million were minted and about 14 million got put in circulation, right
some got melted down in the price spike in the 80's, right
recently I was talking to (an anonymous stacker) who told me he was holding 6000 plus
so my question is what is the biggest stack you have seen with your our eye's, no stories or wife's tales please
p.s if you have some for sale i'd like to hear from you :D

36 million total with only about 14 million out there, That sounds about right to me from my calculations

Population of Australia is around 22.6 million so I can only assume then if your holding more than 1 then that's pretty greedy

Gold prospectors I know would use them when they melted down nuggets to get 22k in order to make jewellery etc. They knew the purity of gold they were mining.

No doubt when people back in 1967, 68, 69 etc etc deposited money (ie 50 cents) into the bank, the Reserve Bank would have withdrawn them from circulation as the octagon 50c replaced the round one.

So I'd say the bulk were withdrawn by the Reserve Bank by the early 1970's.
