Any tips on what to look for or to avoid in order to do this?

I think a big help is by looking at as many Pandas as possible. After a while you kinda learn what to look out for, especially on the older Pandas. Some have common worn out spots/defects.

Yennus has a keen eye!!!!!!! also he can correct me if i am wrong:), when you buy coins in places like shanghai many times you get to look at several coins to sometimes dozen,s of the same coin ,that helps very much in selecting quality coins ,in comparison of buying 1 coin off a picture on the internet.............

    Thanks jc888888888.

Indeed, I think I've probably visually inspected more than 1000x 2011 1oz Silver Pandas, and a few hundred of each other year group (except the Proof years).

I'm also kinda wary of buying coins based on pics on the internet. I prefer to visually inspect each one.

Congrats again on the coins and the scores, although I would hate to see, or pay, your NGC bill. :)

I should imagine a lot of the coins yennus rejects end up on the Internet. I wonder how many coins we've bought from the web have already been inspected by yennus? :)

My wife saw my credit card bill ,she asked me if NGC was a code billing for my girlfriend or an escort service the bill s where so big:):) ,when I said honey "its the bill for grading coins" (she has a good sense of humor) she said "I would feel better if it was an escort service" :)

I must say that I was waiting for the results of this batch of 2001Ds with great anticipation as it created a bit of an excitement over here in this little sunny island while they were still in OMP. :)

So please forgive me Yennus, my panda friend, for not being able to control myself but to do an NGC lookup on them. And what a result it was! nothing below 69 and a wonderful 70 on top of that! Wow!

Your uncanny ability of picking top quality coins has once again been affirmed and I share your joy in these tremendously wonderful results. Congrats!:)

AMEN TO THAT MY BROTHER YENNUS!:) sometimes I think folks get the idea this NGC thing is easy:), buy some OMP ,send them in ,and go to the bank:) but as you well know, the joy of a handfull of 70,s can be shortlived ,NGC also has a nack of turning a perfectly wonderful $350 coin or coins into a $150 coin like magic!!:) send in a $350 plus 1/10 1982 gold panda in OMP that looks beautiful ,and it comes back ms67 bingo like magic it is worth $185 ... and I can easily give you a 3 page list of occurences like that from my personal experience grading coins for 6 years or so:)
