Been waiting to join for a while, found out about this place from a dealer in city. Looking forward to transacting and learning more.

One question, how trustworthy is buying silver from members in this forum in general, has anyone ever seek fakes, and what steps if any do you recommend to protect against?

    Worth the wait I hope?!

Occasionally some of the members meet up and you can inspect the items first and get advice from other members on price etc. Unlikely someone will bring in a fake that is good enough to fool everyone at the meeting.

Other than that, buyer beware, we have had a few people who have cut and run with the money over the years. Same with everything, if you are sending money to someone who you have never met then you need to make sure that it looks legit.

    Welcome to the forum.

If you are buying from long term members with many trades usually Id say there are trustworthy and safe. Though I am careful of buying anything in certicards because without a xrf (i dont have one) I cant test it by touch, acid or by gravity test, but this is more of problem for gold than silver.

I am not saying any members are intentional crooks, but the fakers are getting better and better, who is to say a experienced member cant be fooled.

Thanks. It would be good if the dealers in CBDs allowed you at a small fee to come in and test items on their XRFs, then could organise trades there and attract buyers/sellers, to my knowledge they don't allow.

I heard of a few places that will do it for a gold coin donation, I forget who but is always worth asking them.
Its only a couple of seconds work for them.

Well I can bring a cake or a bottle of wine to a restaurant and pay $2 per person, they seem to encourage this behaviour, in fact, for some of the places it is a selling point.

Mind you, if I went to the restaurant and started selling the cakes or wine they might have an issue :)

Believe it or not Spanner some don't mind as it is great for their own network building.
Seems we are a more laid back bunch up here than in Vic. :p

We do get the occasional bad deal happening, but I reckon about 99.9% of deals are good.

I'm pretty sure Goldstackers will test for you if you are a member of this forum. Maybe one of the GS reps on this forum can confirm.
