Anyone else see this ?? 48 tonne of silver recovered from a old sunken ship. Some cool pics and a video http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/20...age-more-than-1500-silver-bars-from-shipwreck Edit: im on my phone and my fat fingers make it hard to type haha
There was a 3 part Discovery Channel documentary called "Silver Rush" on this wreck and the recovery process. Worth watching.
I wonder if all the pirates went down with the ship. Nor pirate ever gives up his silver. Regards Errol 43
I think my floorboards would collapse under the weight of that stack... Need treasure chests, and a secret cave... And a treasure map! >
Other reports are saying 60 or 61 tons of silver? http://au.finance.yahoo.com/news/odyssey-exploration-recovers-silver-shipwreck-132757283.html Ah - there have been two recovery operations - first in 2012 recovered 48 tons (1218 ingots), second in 2013 recovered 61 tons (1574 ingots)
Does anyone recognize the mint mark? :/ [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/6008_gairsoppa-project-silver-bar.jpg][/imgz]
