A friend asked me whether I could recommend some gold miners for conservative investors Sort of got stuck after Newcrest. Any members here care to offer an opinion on their favourites.
If he's really conservative, tell him not to bother. Buy bullion, and for equities seek out high Return On Equity dividend paying non-resource stocks. If he wants to pay 10 - 15 times what he would have paid 4 years ago he could throw it at RRL, SLR, NST.
Gold miners are volitile to a higher degree than the metal - I dont know what he means by 'conservative' If he means conservative as in scared stiff of things going down - there are no stocks to recomend If he means conservative as in he wants to preserve his purchasing power - any producers who are making steady or increasing profits each quarter ie. cash/bullion reserves is getting bigger from the start of one quarter to the next. He would have to do his own research, you can find asx listed gold producers through a google search. tell him to read the last 2 years of quarterly financial reports
