one has a very small "ding" on the reverse side, the other has a dent on the rim. Guess that's what US mint can do, you just cannot expect to received a perfect coin from them.
So far bought 5 "P" version coins, 4 OGP, 1 SP69. All have visual imperfections. If I keep to return, I will keep losing on shippings (although they may reimburse me for return shipping, but I still lose the incoming shipping fees). I guess I will keep these two. Seriously considering drop this collection serious, although I only started to collect them 2 weeks ago.
My "Great Sand Dunes" coin came today. There were a couple of very small imperfections but you have to look for them. ATB Great Sand Dunes by TomD77, on Flickr
Another great pic Tom . Your like a kid when you get a new coin ...cant wait to photograph it : ...i like someone who has a passion & enthusiasm for anything . When are you going to fill the holes in the kookaburra thread with your cool pics ...dont worry about the angry chipmunk do it for everyone to reference & enjoy
For those who like this series and collect some, most, or all of them.... I'm just thinking out loud here; seems like lots of people have been recently complaining about the quality issues of some of the more recent releases of the ATB "P" 5 oz coins. If it's true that the quality has gone down, then maybe as a collector it's time to seek out SP70 graded (reputable TPG's only) coins as a way to likely ensure long term high premiums earned if and when the time comes you need to sell. I'm preparing for all the haters of graded coins to trash this idea...okay, bring it on. .
