Is this a rare/collectible/vintage gold bar of any special value more than the pure gold value? (I am guessing that these were the old gold bars around the Oriana times, pre-Certicard)
I know that there will definitely be some people interested in this vintage ingot. Perth mint 1oz gold cast ingot from the 1988 World Expo. I've seen a few of the 1/2 oz floating around but first time seeing the 1oz. I don't have the funds to purchase it, so might as well share the love and hopefully someone on this forum can pick it up. It's a beauty! https://www.sterlingcurrency.com.au/perth-mint-1ozt-cast-gold-ingot-99.99-pure~208346
I remember as a kid going to the perthmint stand at expo, im pretty sure it was their stand that had a massive gold bar that was in a bullet proof case and you had to try and remove it through a hand sized hole with one hand. Lol no one could, it was a bloody big bar and remember some prety big dudes trying and no one could move it due to how it was placed in the display case. Not sure the wieght as i was only a kid at the time, but i remember it being big. Bit like that viral youtube clip of that asian game show with a bar of gold they have to try and remove out a small hole.
I was literally just thinking of that viral video of where they had to try get the gold bar with one hand when I read your comment. My god, imagine knowing the method to doing it and going back in time to the expo. Nice free gold bar haha. That's nuts though.
It is also one of my favorites. Have you seen one with a stamped reverse? Or have any info on it. A1483 is what it is stamped
