New to the game. I have the chance to buy some silver plates and sauce boats from a guy I know. But the one thing that concerns me is that the hallmarks are so worn off. I could only recognize the initials of the silversmith and a flower-patterned mark. It could be a good deal if it is real. I am just hesitant. What is your take on this?

As long as it has been tested silver and you pay spot, there should be no problems. I'm not sure where it is from, English silver should have a Lion Passant to ensure it is sterling.

I thought it might be Austria. But as I said, the marks are so fuzzy.
