Apologies if this has been asked before I did a search and found nothing. I was just admiring my little coin collection and I noticed some 1991 1oz Kooks I picked up last month have a face value of $5 whereas the 2012 Koalas I have (yeah I know should have got the kooks) only have a face value of $1. I know it is not really relevant I was just wondering why the change? It really should be heading in the other direction!
SilverSanchez - I know I am astonishingly tired today but I did see that thread already (and don't think I missed anything relevant) and could not see anywhere in it that answered my specific question. I did a little more looking and it seems the 1992 kooks (some at least) were minted with a face value of $1 also so maybe 1991 was an aberration. Just curious why 1991 mintage were given a face value of $5.
