Just wondering if the queen past away would the coins be made diff with face on the back and would the ones with her increase in premium just wondering
Presumably Charles. If you're referring to circulating decimal coinage, then no - you can get pennies from the 1800s for under a dollar.
At a guess, I'd say official coins minted with King Charles on them - should it happen - will generally become more rare than ones with QEII on them... one day. As I'd assume Charles wouldn't be on the British throne half as long as his Mother. (He is 64 at the moment and Mummy doesn't seem to be going anywhere soon!)
Same thing happened with Edward VII, his mummy Queen Vic was on the throne longer than QEII has been so far. KEVII only had his head on the coins for 9 years
It is the monarch that decides which way they want the image to face, left or right. I think the first minting after the ascension is the one that does this. And Charles will be near 80 if QE2 lives as long as her mother. OC
usually the effigy alternates between left and right facing.. Id say Charles will abdicate the thrown and give it to William.. after all he has done worse than EDVI ever did! 1for1
KG6 died on my 13th birthday in 1952! Soon after the newspapers were debating about "what will the new Queen decide" on the configuration of the coinage. The point was made about the fact that most Monarchs that had the head facing one way had experienced war, and the ones facing the other side had experienced peace. I presume that was a reference to KG5 and KG6 in WW1 and WW2. No reference I am afraid. OC ....and abdication is a dirty word in the House of Windsor. I do NOT expect King Charles 3rd will ever abdicate, but he MAY develop a bad back and appoint William as Regent.
