    Hi all,
I pulled some ounce's straight out of the creek the other day and there should be more, what should I do? I cleaned it up and refined it so it's around 95%+ pure should I trade it in and get some minted stuff for the stack or is gold gold! and I should just hang onto it, just thinking of ease of future transfers anyways one happy camper :D:D:D:p

Sleuth Box mate, it took about 10 straight days of shoveling dirt through it and a lot of beers but you get nothing for nothing they say. It was a fun trip into the hills with the girl, looks like I've found a little honey hole not sure how much would be left will try the detector next trip up it had to come from somewhere.

well done dude, by the way, its a SLUICE box ;)

Make a note of everything about your magic spot...angle of the turn, distance from bank, size of the gravel, any large trees/snags that could've effected flow.

It all helps you find the next spot.

@aussiematt, How did you refine it? How do you know it's 95% pure?

    Methinks you tell fibs.

    Sluice yeah haha,
Anyways, no fibs mate I melted it down with copper to make sure the gold content would be less then 25% then used Nitric acid to inquart the gold or part it from the copper, see the acid dissolves the copper and silver, and then leaves just pour gold! I then tested the refined gold with an acid test and it is above 22k gold but I beleave it is a fair bit more then 22k:p I will be back to that little creek soon I think.

How much did you find and how long time did you work?

Some photos would be great, if you'd be willing to share.

If I was looking for gold around the Cairns area, would I go sluishing around the creeks that feed into the Clohesy River around Koah? ;)

Did you have to go through 16 tonnes of dirt to yield 1oz? <- Just trying to confirm if the reports are telling porkies on the yields...

Also check the Barron River outflows..and not just for gold

RTZ performed an exploration programme back in the late 80's chasing diamonds coming out of the basalt flows.

    Spent a million dollars...found 3

    but they did find them!

tbh I'd probably spend more time being digested and shat out by a crocodile than looking for gold anyway

Reckon I'd keep the first ounce mate...the memories of how you toiled with shovel and beer will be priceless in the years to come.

Have never forgotten the first sapphire and zircon or Amethyst I ever found...I'd never sell...memories. :D

Well done getting the gold! :)

Well done Matt, good to see your hard work paid off. Just shows you what a bit of hard work can achieve. I would just hang onto it and than maybe if Gold goes through the roof take it to a refiner and get it minted.
