The flood of bullion grade coloured/privy Coins (especially with the 2012 Dragon) had a negative effect on SII Proofs. I used to collect Proof coins because: Limited Mintage - hard to get. Proof - Better Quality than a bullion coin. Display box, Clam & serial/coa - adds to authenticity. Why buy a Proof for $x with a low mintage when you can get one of the 300,000 bullion grade version for cheaper? Or one of the 170,000 coloured bullion version etc. Add the amount of BULLION versions together, it's almost unlimited. The problem is that many new people do not realise the difference between Proof & Bullion. I think we should appreciate the quality & exclusiveness of Proof Coinage. Has anybody recieved a Proof coin from Perth Mint with white spots? If so I'd take it back!! Try that with bullion.
