It's strange how prices are rising in Venezuela - in terms of US dollars, even! A pair of sports shoes costs around 1,200 $, a hamburger costs 14 $. One would expect the dollar price to stay relatively "normal", but it too has skyrocketed. What is happening in Venezuela? What is going on there shocked me too, but here's the article by Reuters: http://blogs.reuters.com/photographers-blog/2014/10/02/illustrating-venezuelas-surreal-prices/
Like Argentina, Venezuela has a government exchange rate and a real (black market) dollar rate. Only true comparison is the boliver prices at the black market USD exchange rate. The sweet potatoes converted to the black market rate would be about $1.20USD not $19.05. Lies, damn lies and statistics.
