    Hello

I have a change to buy 1 oz Lunar I 2005 rooster and 1 oz 2004 monkey for $1360 each. How much premium do these coins fetch? These years do not seem to be on sale very often, so I have no idea of their premiums. Should I pull the trigger?

Seems like a good price. I would pull the trigger depending on the condition and whether you trust the seller.

Face to face transaction. Know the seller, have bought other Lunar coins from him in the past. Coin in top condition apart that the original capsule is scratched.

    Thanks for the feedback

Received the coins today. They were in a very good condition. I wouldn't be amazed if these would score MS-70 if sent to grading

I do not know about you, but for my taste Lunar I coins are in some way more elegant than series II counterparts. Here is a picture of the coins. Enjoy!

By the way what do you guys think is there any point in storing the original capsules? I have always moved the coins to fresh holders as the coins look so much more beautiful in clear holder as opposed to the old ones full of scratches. Thus far I have saved all the original holders if I ever need them.

Great job on the gold coins. Though I don't think those are the original PM capsules.

Hi, yes you are right they are not. They are air-tites. As I said I have stored all of the original Perth Mint capsules if I ever need them (when time comes to sell if ever).

I once called Perth Mint is it possible to buy the replacement capsules for the Lunar gold coins. The lady on the line was not very helpful. She said that only if the coin is bought directly from the mint and if I have a proof of purchase to show then only I am eligible to receive a new capsule. I do not know why it is so hard for them to just sell those - come on just take my money. Does any third party sell fresh Perth Mint capsules`?

Actually the reason why people ask for original capsules is so they know the coins weren't taken out of the capsule. This will expose the coins to the air which might result in tarnishing/spotting.

But I think some members here sell the original capsules if you are looking for some.

Do not want to open a new discussion so ...

Did notice a german dealer is buying 1oz monkey @1386 which is around 2150Au$

But more strange is the selling price @1871 which is around 2900Au$

Its more expensive than the dragon @1546 which is around 2400Au$

Any ideas as it is not only a high selling price he also offers a good buying price for the monkey.

Do you have some AU dealer prices to compare ?

Would also like to know the price for the 1/2 oz monkey 2004

ninteno, I know which dealer you are referring to as I occasionally check the site to update world prices for Australian gold lunar coins. Have you dealt with this dealer before? Does the dealer understand English and do they buy from overseas? At times I have been tempted to contact the dealer, but overseas shipping issues and potential communication problems stopped me.

    Thanks,

Inter/intra country wire transfers originating inside the US are very reasonable. Any idea what a bank transfer from Germany normally costs? The currency conversion/exchange rate fee was my main concern on costs. Due to all the additional costs, it would be a rare situation that would make this kind of sale worthwhile. But you never know.
