Premiums

    Is it just me or have premiums on physical gone up from dealers, especially in % terms, and less being traded through forum as spot has dropped?

    Yeah seems to me. I seem to remember premiums being a lot lower a year or two ago on a lot of stuff.

    I agree,dealer premiums have definitely increased.Most probably as a direct result of rising overhead costs within their businesses.

    Speaking for the NE US -- and comparing not just a year or two ago to today, but comparing just one month ago to today -- very definitely so.

    Some premiums are rising - another price hike in the email this morning that silver eagles, silver maples and philharmonic premiums have gone up from distributors.

    Sme premiums are also fixed dollar amounts, not percentages, so will appear to rise as a percentage when spot drops.

    No Perth Mint premiums have changed, so you might be seeing either fixed price premiums at work, or some dealers may simply be hiking prices.
