to make a long range detector you will need a car antenna, the handle and trigger from a nerf gun (anyone will do) a calculator (the more 80's looking the better) a bit of wood , some loose wires and finally, a hot glue gun . just stick it all together in any old fashion and bam, you have a useless piece of turtle poop. because that is all long range detectors are. other options include, start digging random holes and hope for the best , buy a metal detector. the last option is probably your best bet.
Three steps: 1. Buy this: http://www.minelab.com/aus/products/gold-detectors/gpx-5000 2. Listen for beep. 3. Find this: http://resources3.news.com.au/images/2013/01/17/1226555/881467-gold-nugget-ballarat.jpg Jokes aside, if there was buried treasure that was detectable from any sort of range over a couple of feet, someone, somewhere would have figured out how to do it, and would have done it, then added to their riches by marketing the tools they used to find it (which would likely have resulted in more money than the treasure itself if done properly). In short, unless you can locate it with a good metal detector at 1-2 feet, you're only going to find treasure by pure luck. On a side note, I've tested the Rangertell, and I have some technical questions for the design team, but they're not returning my phone calls... I think I could increase it's range but want to check before I modify the unit lest I set off an unintended chain reaction that would put Fukushima to shame.
