I know somebody with a platinum wedding ring wanting to sell I guess the wt to be 5-7 grams. She was going to flog it to a jewelry guy. I said no rip off. I thought it was worth $400 ish. Told her. She thought it was worth $2000. ( more like the price she paid me thinks ) I told her one is metal price and the other jewelry price. I think she thinks I'm ripping her off. So help please. What is it realistically worth? I know some where between the two prices. I dont even want it. Would rather 10oz bar of silver or two 1/10 gold Deagons.
Well, the "jewellery guy" or Cash 4 Gold booth at the local shopping centre are going to offer her less than the metal value so... Tell her to shop it around and get some quotes.
well she is in for a rude awakening as she will find out that in the "jewellery guy" or Cash 4 Gold booth she can't even get metal value
Step one; Give her this link http://www.kitco.com Step two; Tell her to divide the spot price per oz for Platinum by 31.1 to obtain price per gram Step three; multiply by the gram weight weight of ring Step four; have her get quotes from the dealers Step five; watch her faint as she realizes how much less than spot she's even offered 5 grams = US$ 296 7 grams = US$ 415
If she wants to maximise sale price, try sell privately to friends, neighbours, relatives etc. Could even try auction type web sites.
