    Hi All

Thinking of making a trip up around the Bendigo area and hiring a detector(Never done before)
Can anyone suggest a few public places I could try in the area?

    Cheers

    White Cliffs,

My Great Great Grandfather found an 80oz nugget there back in the 1860s.

No, not White Cliffs NSW, White Cliffs was out of Bendigo back then, but is now all built on as a suburb I think.

    WOOPS!

I just checked my Family History data base and it was 'White Hills'. I shall give my proof reader a severe thrashing.

Anywhere there's old diggings or workings.

If you've never used a detector try ground with lots of junk...ie. diggings that people have dumped rubbish in and around.

If you go somewhere that has been detected thoroughly you will most likely walk around all day without getting a signal. Better to go where there is a lot of junk and work away at a small area than walking miles and digging nothing.

I haven't been around Bendigo detecting. There is still nuggets to find with a good detector there but no idea on specific spots to try. If you hire a detector over there ask them to give you some directions. :)
