This is how the new Hera, Goddess of Olympus coin arrived today straight from the Perth Mint. As soon as I received the package I knew something was not good when I heard the rattling.

First pics on immediately opening the box:

How is this in any way acceptable?

    Bummer..

    Hopefully it gets rectified quickly.

Is that antique finish on the paper?

From my calculations, 8+4 does indeed equal twelve so captcha sucks at maths

Should it have been "four" rather than '4' ?

Tried it too :) Only accepted two characters "fo" so I guess it wanted a number.

Mine came like that too from the Perth mint. Loose inside box. Downies puts some foam inside with the first series but even then it comes loose.

The details and relief on this coin is very nice though.

I'm contacting the Perth Mint. We should all contact them if we received it in this condition.

Not surpirsed. What happened to the Perth Mint stamp of quality. Wow, that is extremely disappointing. They sacrifice quality for expediency. That never works in the end. Your COA is damaged.

Wow...that is the most careless and reckless product packaging I've ever seen. I would definitely demand answers and a solution that works for you.

The nerve of them to ship like that.

That's not the coa. That's just a piece of paper that says there are abrasions on the coin from the antiquing process to make it look like an old coin so every coin looks slightly different.

I don't think I'd worry about it. It's not supposed to be a flawless encapsulated proof coin. So as long as there are no major dings or crazy scratches from the excursion I'm not fussed.

Based on the recent flurry of posts about problems with PM coins, it seems PM may have entered into a "spiritual partnering" with RCM...

Maybe one of them could do a special release coin or round to commemorate spotted and damaged silver coins. It should be big to serve as an adequate canvas to show off the spots, abrasions, dings, dents, gouges and gashes and a large, open, mirror-like background would most effectively showcase cratering and oversized, visually overpowering spots reminiscent of Jackson Pollock's paintings. They could package it in a miniature replica cat litter box and call it their special edition "Shitbox Coin." It'd have to be one of those "every coin will be different because of the unique finishing techniques used" deals, of course. I figure something like that should be good for 6x to 10x spot. Cat litter isn't cheap.

SilverPete: Mine was loose as well. I think there is evidence of the coin rubbing against the paper included within the case. I'll be keeping the coin but will do my best to get a comment to PM about the lousy shipping setup.

Wow, either badly packaged by Perth Mint or else your delivery guys were playing soccer with your package. Either way, not acceptable.

This is the card that was included in the presentation case with the coin. Not as beat up as SilverPete's but still shows wear marks.
