I think the mint is really milking these dragons to death now :/ http://www.perthmint.com.au/forthcoming-releases.aspx Says being released 1st November. They might just succeed in killing the dragon market at this rate.
How about the 1/2 oz baby dragon... I think there is no silver shortage. There is a money shortage and they are trying to get our hard earned money with every trick they can...
I think there will be plenty of opportunities to buy proper silver dragons from China when the year of the dragon starts so I am not rushing to buy any more western interpretations. This would be nice in silver Source: http://www.chinavoc.com/dragon/imp.asp or this Source: http://www.kaccents.com/For_Home/Garden/Dragons_2.htm They already make plenty of statues anyway so it shouldn't be much of a leap to cast them in silver, all they have to do is work on their credibility!
Besides the 1/2ozer the rest of the line up is the same. Year of the Dragon is the biggest of all, so a couple of extra variants will not harm them one bit. Plus the first ever coloured proofs will have a lot higher collector appeal and premium IMO. The total mintage of anything Dragon(P/Mint) combined is puny compared to the several other well known coins around the world and the world population that collects and will become new collectors. And the fact that P/Mint coins leave the majority for dead is also something to consider. All of todays Dragons especially will be a lot harder to aquire out in trader land as more will wont to keep them once they get there hands on them. Just my opinion. Scorp
