Bullion mark have the problem stated as a worldwide shortage of silver on their Perth mint silver @ their website.

"The Perth Mint has temporarily ceased production of this product due to a global silver shortage. We cannot accept new orders until further notice."

Understood, I'm not placing any credence on the statement and have not read the whole thread, just came across it this arvo and thought I'd throw it in out of interest.

i wonder how much lead time GP had on this as his appitite for 10oz's makes more sence now :)

Will 10oz PMs have a numismatic premium in a wee while? Must admit they be damn cute :p

There will always be some mining and some coin and bar buying, but yeah it will be really low so a lot of people are going to get laid off, no doubt. Numismatic business might be OK as with cheaper metal prices the overall cost of a commemorative coin is lower so easier to sell.

Didnt mean to offend and apologise if I have.

Reason for my curiosity was that I have spent the last 6 months studying De Beers, their CSR and the fact they claim that they dont deal with blood/conflict diamonds.
I have come across a few different non-profits that have been scrutinising them as well but the conclusion that I have consistently come to is that, part of the reason they dont deal in blood diamonds (and actively campaign against them) is profit based pure and simple. Less blood diamonds = more control and profit for De Beers, something that historically they have been very keen to maintain.

I have tried my best to find supporting evidence to the fact that they deal in blood diamonds, but have failed entirely. That was the only reason that your comment tweaked my interest.

I 100% believe that they can produce gold/silver out of protons and electrons, but it is so expensive that the price of gold would have to be 100x what it is now to make it anywhere near worth it :)
