I bought two Panda silver coins on Ebay a few years ago, they look real but i'm not sure. The weight is right. A well known fake is the balck nose, but these ones don't have that , but i don't see a good nose either . On both coins on the panda are a few spots (on the head and on the body) which don't have to be there i think, maybe this is normal? because in the begin years the Panda weren't perfect?? On the back of the coin the stairs are not smooth like other 2000 coins i saw on Ebay, but on other Panda years i saw that they also were not smooth. I want to sell one of them but i don't want to sell fake coins. Who can help me in detremining if this are real coins??
Soft plastic pouch seal does not look right. How can you tell the weight is right when it is sealed in acrylic holder and soft plastic pouch? Coin surface looks funny, too. I would WAG fake but maybe someone else can come with a definitive verdict to support or contradict my WAG.
the plastic sealed is not the original mint seal, the temple's stair also different from what i saw.. my guess those are bad bears ;(
Even the milk spots look fake... Also the 2 in 2000 is missing a serif. See here: http://www.pandacollector.com/rogue.html There is a comparison of a similar looking coin with a genuine one.
Yeah, I hate to say it, but that definitely looks fake. The stairs look different from the genuine. Sorry.
Thanks Yennus for pointing it out. It's clear now, I think. I've read many of your posts and must say you're the man when it comes to pandas. I plucked a mirrored panda off eBay and I think I got lucky that it wasnt fake. Another one I sniped turned out to be the frosty version even though the picture was that of the mirrored one. It's definitely a gamble trying to buy these ungraded.
Is better buy the big 4 in ms69 or if you cant in ms69 in ms68 or 67 Because a lot of fakes are or a lot of rejected grading less than 66
