I was in one of the larger local dealers recently and overheard an interesting conversation. Reception took a call from someone obviously enquiring about Dragons, she mentioned that there were none available and that they were disapointed with their low allocation. She then mentioned that they were trying to get hold of some pamp lunar coins? Never heard of these but is it possible that credit suisse are going to get in on the dragon fever? Anyone else heard of these or is possible she's mistaken?
abc sydney? i heard the same thing they sent me a .dat file was supposed to be a pamplet..but could never open it
There are credit suisse 'dragon' Gold bars, I recall Steve (AEL) auctioned one at the meet last time (2.5 grams of Gold).
Yes I was told about the PAMP lunar series by ABC bullion when I enquired about Perth mint dragons. The lady told me they don't know when will the coins be out but it will be early next year.
We should have them in our hands in mid Novemeber! Will take pre-orders starting Tuesday http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-15854-pamp-lunar-dragon-silver-gold-bars.html
yeah, I recieved that message too, anyone have idea with PAMP lunar dragon's mintage? I am not a lunar collector but curious with
i'm curious too. is it a limited mintage run? i'm short of cash but don't want to miss out on these sexies.
No platinum dragons? Someone really needs to get on that. I know Johnson Matthey have done a platinum dragon in the past but you rarely see those turn up.
dito on that limited mintage, I mean if the make a bazillion of them why would you want to pay the extra premium or will they sell for the same price as the 1 once fortuna
Still, less people will be aware of them so could be worth having a couple in the collection. More places are stocking Pamps these days but there will be even more dealers with them by the time the snake and future designs come out. Perhaps some belated demand for dragons as people realise there is something new to collect.
Mintage is a crucial componant of my investment decision parameters.. This $16.50 premium over spot is far more than Perth Mint Bullion and Pandas and is compariable to the blue throated mcaw etc but with even higher premiums. Subjectively i dont like the picture.. looks like an extremely cartoonish dragon (far more basic and worse than perth mint dragons). The unique bar numbers are good Buying a couple maybe a great idea but postage on a few would make this a poor investment. I wouldnt want a lot of these given the premiums you could make instant profits buying 2oz and 5oz, 10oz dragons and flip on ebay for 35% immediate profits And i generally love the pamp look, Lady Fortuna is the best thing about em! gold might be worthwhile but i just think pamps are about the primo chick not an ugly cartoon dragon (but its all about the mintage i can handle an ugly pic). 1for1
Hey, your right about image preference, its subjective. RE: 10 oz dragons.. mate ive seen them selling in europe for like $450 US but cant see any high right now so maybe now ample supply. I note the 1 oz dragons are back on the rise. My final comment, i just dont think these will have the same type of numismatic return but it remains to be seen and first year items are a good idea if the product line takes off and people look to get a year set, the big question is will they? 1for1
Old thread but at least it shows I went searching.. anyone know the mintage numbers on the Pamp lunar series?
These are beautiful bars, I started off buying 2 sets of10g snake, dragon and horse for my nieces bday, I just loved these bars after receiving them, so bought 1set of 1oz and then 1 x 100g dragon. I treat them as collector items instead of investment, will continue to build on the set if they release subsequent lunars.
Interesting, Is that what Perth Mint does with their 1kg Lunars? When you look at Perth Mint Lunar Mintages, all the the previous years have a "Declared Mintage" except the 1 kg in every Lunar Animal. Every year in the series 2 1 kg size remains "Sales to Date" Any comment or insight?
Does that mean I should be able to get any of the 1kg Series II lunars for a price close to the current year's?
Doubt it. I'm guessing dealers probably buy them in bulk and can effectively set the market price for it (with a premium of course)
