Im calling it, there seems to be a severe shortage of any bullion grade silver availability, im getting the "out of stock" on most small silver bullion coins im looking at in australia with the 2012 kookaburra the exception - how long will it last?.

Still available are buffalos, ASE's and Maples (never ending - actually i remember eagle shortages in 08)

Just the OverSeas coins seem to be in stock.. After the kookaburras run dry it will be slim pickings id imagine. I hear many optimistic posters talking about the 2nd round of 1/2oz, 2oz, & 5oz Lunar Dragons but id say its far from assured given the wait on round one.. (im yet to receive my 1/2, 2, 5)).

Hmmm it seems that Perth Mint's "extra" capacity is used up already. Offline for a while on a number of products while they install them and sill huge delays.

Perth Mint Cuts Prices for Silver Numismatic Products
October 18, 2011 By Michael Zielinski 1 Comment

Following the recent sharp decline in the spot price of silver, the Perth Mint of Australia has reduced prices for a variety of silver numismatic products. As recently as one month ago, the market price of silver was above $40 per ounce, compared to the current price around $32 per ounce.

At least one other world mint has also responded to the drop in silver by reducing prices for numismatic products. On October 7, 2011, the United States Mint reduced prices for their numismatic one ounce American Silver Eagles and five ounce America the Beautiful Silver Coins. The US Mint's price reductions were $9.50 for the one ounce coins and $50 for the five ounce coins. On a percentage basis, the reductions ranged from 13.88% to 17.86%.

After seeing the coin in the flesh I actually prefer the 2012 Kook. Plus I reckon it will benefit from dragon mania in terms of people buying it out as they can't buy the 1oz dragons.
