A more likely explanation is that the box is re-purposed. It would be more efficient than opening up a new manufacturing line. Thanks for the stereotyping, though. As for the black marker ruining the box, a tissue with fingernail polish remover would fix that...if you like your plastic pristine...
The most efficient monster box that I have seen is for the Philharmonics..... Tightly packed, very modest and unassuming when placed next to a box of ASE.
