To all http://macquariemint.com/store/product.asp?id=6340 This sounded like a reasonable deal initially but after calling and asking for the specs, as there are none on the site, it turns out it is only 50% silver and copper, nickel, aluminium etc. All up weight 10grams...girl on the phone indicated that it would be 50% of 10 grams of silver ie 5 grams of 999 Hard to believe silver has the same density as the alloy impurities ! more info on a previous similar issue here http://forums.silverstackers.com/message-177482.html what do you reckon?
I would avoid this piece of rubbish. Deceptive $10 face value. Tricky marketing, exchange $10 for a $10 coin. It is $10 face value in KIRIBATI! At least they are offering the new $2 Rememberence Day commemorative coin for "free" with this. That $2 coin will be worth more than the actual coin they are selling!
Dont bother with other coins accept what is recognise by us stackers. You will end up dissapointed. Stick with the regular 999 % coins we buy. Im sure you know what Im talking about.
Ok, I may sound really stupid but I blame it on 'excellent marketing'; Kiribati have the same currency as us ($1 for $1) which means even if it didn't increase, we could take it into a currency place and exchange it for our currency? :/
Do currency exchanges accept coins? Most ones I know of only take notes. You could always go to Kiribati and spend it.
As I recall from being in the Pacific Islands a few years back, they will accept AUD and the currency is pegged at 1:1 by the Government. But there is essentially no Kiribati currency in circulation, therefore you find no-one (ie. currency exchange places/banks) will accept Kiribati currency and exchange for $A. ie. The Kiribati (and Tuvalu etc etc) have a "currency" in name only, not reality.
It says 0.500 silver so its 50% silver, if the weight of the coin is 10g then it should be 5g of silver
Round piece of junk falsely advertised-nice................. Where do they find idiots who will buy that crap??????????????? CERTAINLY not someone who takes 5 minutes to do research!
