Oh I should be hading to auckland later in the year, cannot wait to see all their beautiful coins in person.....but I still won't pay their prices. Got an email response and their over the counter bullion prices aren't too bad though

Design looks fairly similar to the Somali elephant series. Nice coin and presentation box. Comes in a rhino-skin textured box. Ohhh

Great packaging, Perth Mint could learn a thing or two there.

Just wanted to add a note that this is the second coin in the series....I'm surprised this one is not a coloured coin like the previous one in the series.

    Endangered Species - Black Rhinoceros

It's the second coin in the series. Only 2,000 mintage.

The first coin in the series is the Collared Lizard coin below

Maybe because they realize that more and more folks are getting turned off by paint?

I was pleasantly surprised as well.
And a good decision by them - the main reason i bought the black rhino, and not the previous one.
The design on the rhino coin has enough impact without resorting to colour.

I quite like this coin. Would sit nicely next to some elephants, but I presume the price on this coin is going to be high. I would like to see a bullion coin with a Rhinoceros on, would be awesome.

Sends the wrong message to me. Why would an endangered animal go in a crate other than to be taken to a zoo, which actually goes against conservationist ethics...:/

Same, a bullion version would be quite nice. More so now that they've dropped the Taku from their inventory for the foreseeable future. Ditch the Fern and work on something with an annual design change. Animals are far more endearing than plants.

Yes, i thought it was odd at first. The little crate also comes in a imitation rhino skin outer box!
But i believe that's the point the mint are making.
It's crass and against ethics. Illustrate this by putting the coin in a crate inside a fake skin box.
It provokes the right reaction - and brings the real message across.

Let me know if your order does not go through and PM me your details as I can make contact with the guys at NZ Mint on Monday morning and follow up on your behalf as I have a good relationship with them if that's of any assistance to stackers on here

Also as I live not far from the mint can buy direct and post if that becomes the last resort for you

Have recently checked the NZ Mint website and these seem to have sold like hot cakes with the limited mintage of 2000 and from what I can ascertain only 55 left to sell

Suggest if your thinking of buying one get in now !!

I don't typically nab recently-issued coins that have been pre-slabbed. In fact, I never have -- until now..

Got my PF 70 Black Rhino in today. I think it's awesome.

Had to make an exception for this one. Glad I did. Had my eye on it for a long time.

Time will tell if I overpaid or not, but I don't really care. Loving it!

Not a fan of the whole crate thing, so just skipped that. But definitely a big fan of the coin, itself.

I think they did a really good job on it.
