If you put it on your watch page you immediately get a discounted offer of $1800, thats one cheap ounce of gold or an expensive ounce of copper alloy.

obviously fake. but not sure what you mean with the .9999 vs 99.99 thing, he isnt being honest at all

"fine gold with a 999.9 millesimal fineness rating may also be expressed as 99.99% or .9999"

If someone went back to ebay and said I thought i was buying pure gold he would say I specifically said it was not pure gold by stating that it was less than 1% gold.

Ebay don't care. they make money from dodgy fakes just as that make money from honest sellers. It's all the same for them.

If you can demonstrate the item is not as described they will act I’d payment was made by paypal but that is why he has used the clever use of .9999 as he has now described item correctly even though he knows buyers will think he means pure gold.

i think you are confusing the terminology.

    I am discussing ebay nomenclature.
.999 is an accepted term for silver, gold uses the carat system .
This seller has used .9999 to deceive. So many ebayer would miss the location of decimal point and this is what I was highlighting. Buyers would be thinking 99.99
I do see if plated material is not Specifically stated this is against ebay rules so if you can demonstrate that it is plated like an XRF test you will get your money back .

    Geez, get a life.

We are talking about a seller on ebay who is being clever in trying to deceive. It is obvious that was his motive in using .9999

Ebay recognise the carat system , we are not talking about a bullion dealer.
Seller made no mention of carat value.

Again .9999 equals pure bullion. They arent trying tobe tricky by where they put the decimal point, they are just flat out lying.
Heaps of people list real gold bullion as .9999 instead of 99.99% or 999.9 because it means the same bloody thing.
Reason im mentioning this is so people dont read this thread and then look at some one who is selling real bullion and think he is a scamer because its listed as .9999 and not 99.99 or 999.9

They should however question some one selling gold bullion $600 below spot price, like the one you have pointed out. The price is of concern not where the seller put the decimal point as that is correct for real bullion.
