I know there are a few graded coin topics floating about..Grading is a very hot topic at the moment None more so ,than for me.As some of you will know ,I am rather fond of the 1967 Swan dollar ..otherwise known as the Goose (no idea why people can't tell it is a Swan) Was lucky enough to procure one at a reasonable price..sans case and it has been cleaned. Enter tamo42..with much knowledge of grading and willingness to help.I contacted him with "me cap in me hand ",so to speak and he was only too happy to help me get my swan submitted.I sent a 2007 panda along to chaperone the bird Decided to get them both conserved and graded at the same time.FYI ..total cost for both with postage to U.S. and return was about $80.00. I had hoped ,of course for a higher grade on the 2007 panda ,but MS 69 is ok. The swan was always going to be a wee problem ..at least it has been conserved and "Proof Details " is fair. Just wanted to shout my thanks to tamo42 for his help..his comms were efficient and always informative .I knew what was happening with the process every step of the way... If you are thinking of getting coins graded ..give the man a shout ..he is very good at it...
Why don't SilverStacker members form their own Grading Circle? The only reason why you members don't is down to damm laziness. Having your own grading organization will benefit you and others. I have mentioned this in the past to a few members here, and responses are normally sighs n deep breathes. For the love of gold...
I had the privlage of a very helpful forum member to get a few coins graded. In the lot I had three 2007 pandas. And all thre got a ms 69 Can't wait to get them. In my opinion grading coins is like opening a kinder surprise.sometimes you get a crappy puzzle (MS64) and sometimes you get a solid platinum die cast of batman made of gold (MS70).
Hey, whats the NGC grade on Swan " Excessive surface hairlines" what does this means? Does they don't have grades MS....?
You can read all about "Details Grading" here: http://www.ngccoin.com/details/understanding-ngc-details-grading.aspx But to sum it up, coins with surface damage receive details grades.
Yeah, I have an affinity for beautiful bears! Hahhaah... I'm hoping it's one of my bears that scored well
It is one I bought from you ,yennus. I have shown them both to a few people and the panda seems to gain the applause over the swan...but ,then comparisons are odious
