Hi Im Toddy I live in country SA and have been stacking since Feb 2013. I own my own small business and only spend what I can afford on Silver when I can. I am a single dad and my kids just don't get it, and always question every time I get a delivery to my door.
I am shocking at saving money and I prefer to spend than save. I see Silver and Gold as my savings and am proud of what I have so far.
when I first got in to silver I bought proof coins from Perth mint and RA Mint at my Local post office. Then I got bitten by the EvilBay bug and possibly made some bad choices.
I have a collection of proof coins including guilded snakes, coloured snakes, koalas, and a few other bits and pieces that took my fancy. including mini roos.
I bought a lot of $10 state series coins and junk silver of ebay and now think twice about that.
I have also bought a lot of American Eagles and Canadian Maples which I like to hold physically.
I now only count my Bullion that I have bought from Perth Mint or BMK and my round 50's as my silver stack. All other coins I just think of as stuff that can just get stashed and forgotten.

68 oz of actual silver bullion coins and bars and only 1/2 oz og gold but still climbling(not including coins I feel are Junk)

I do have a few questions that I would really appreciate help with thou.

#where in Adelaide or South Australia can I buy Bullion? (walk in walk out)
#are numismatics worth all the extra cash?
#are there other places that sell round 50's that anyone can think of? (e.g. pawn shops, crap converters etc)
#can I really cash in my state series coins at the bank for face value?
#should I stick with Perth Mint and BMK?
#if silver dropped out completely would I be better off with Maples due to their $5 face value?
#should I buy more fractional Gold?

    Welcome.

Congratulations on working out how stacking can work for you!

Make sure you tell them to keep their mouths shut with other people.

If you mean proof stuff from the post office,
If paying retail prices, 98% of the time, NO.
    There is the occasional exception.

    Yes

    What is BMK?
Not sure why you are buying ASEs and Maples.
If you are paying similar prices to kooks and koalas you are better off with kooks/koalas/lunars.

Only if you go to Canada.

If you can get it at a reasonable premium

    Thanks guys.

Trew BMK =Bullionmark. and as for the eagles and maples I just like the look of them and they are something different. I got sick of looking at koalas and snakes at one time.

Court Jester I am a tradie and that's all I will say about my business as to keep my identity and stack safe. AND my kids Know better than telling ANYONE. :p

Well I'm not a 'pro' but...

I hear ya. I'm the same.

I don't buy them myself but I think if you stick with low mintage Perth Mint numismatics and buy when they've just been released you can do well. :)

The Perth Mint is the one mint to rule them all! :D Oh... dealers? I like Bullion Bourse and Maggie's Bullion (plug for Maggie!).

I can't really see that happening, but it might be an interesting exercise going to a bank or travel center and trying to exchange a Maple for Australian dollars. Let us know how you go! :p

Well, if you're a shocking saver like me then it will be easier than saving for a 1oz gold coin. ;)

So if it is better to buy koalas, kookaburras and snakes? am I better off selling my Pamp and OPM bars and various 1oz coins and trading them for Perth Bullion?
I thought it would be good to have a little variety rather than put all my eggs in one basket.
I am currently thinking of buying Perth 10oz bars or should I buy the 10oz coins? I already have a 10oz kookaburra. want to eventually get one of each or ultimately even more...and then some.

sorry if I have repeated questions that have been previously covered, I just want to try and get the best investment for my future.:)

    here there everywhere
If you can afford a 10oz bar rather than 1oz coins I'd go for the 10oz bars
If you can get a 10oz coin for the same $ or pretty close go for the coin
Buy local products is my moto ;)

No need to sell one form to buy another - you would lose premium for nothing

In the end doesn't really matter what you get.
If you sell it to a dealer you will get around spot for it no matter what shape or form it is
If you sell it here the premium you will get when selling will be similar to the premium you paid when buying
Ie: 10oz bars are cheaper to buy but you get lower premium when selling them
1oz lunar coins cost more but you can get a higher price when you sell

    Get whatever you personally like
