JM Bullion has the first 5,000 new serial numbered 10 ounce bars from Johnson Matthey. Serial numbers starting at A0001001. My order is in!
Does the bar look the same ? Otherwise its just a matter of numbering and won't really add any premium to the bars. JM bars are often sold close to spot unlike the poured Engelhard bars.
Bars are same design but I don't know where you find them near spot. The old 10 ounce sell at a big premium. They haven't made 10 ounce since the '90s
At least I know I won't be out of a job anytime soon http://www.jmbullion.com/10-oz-johnson-matthey-silver-bar/
I doubt it. That's why they started new bars with A. Low serial numbers always command high prices and that's why my order is in. I would die if I got a 1111, 2222 etc.
Well hopefully you can flip them for a profit. Based on recent completed sales on eBay, the JM bars go for around 230-250 USD. Minus eBay fees (assuming 10%) and that's effectively selling them for around 225 USD. So I'm not really seeing the premiums on these bars sadly. The poured variety is a different story altogether though.
Apmex is selling the old bars like hotcakes for $265 U.S. I'm not looking to flip but those that are can profit. I like low serial numbers, repeaters etc. Im very happy with my order and hoping to get lucky with serial numbers. If you like poured bars, buy them.
These new 10oz bars are made by Sunshine Minting; the name, logo and design are licensed from Johnson Matthey.
If that is true it changes nothing. New 10 ounce bars from Johnson Matthey. If you don't like them, don't buy them. I'm guessing for those that flip, profit coming. For me I simply want them.
Right now they work out at $3.00/oz US over spot when paying by check, isnt too bad for a JM bar with a low serial i guess
