    Hey!

I have been thinking about investing in precious metals for a long while and recently stumbled upon this site. I am interested in buying silver as a form of saving more so than a collector. Any suggestions on where to start? Is this something i can manage to keep without records? The idea would be to collect quality bars and coins and build up a home stash to stare at. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I'm getting the impression Ebay is not a good market?

    Cheers

Avoid eBay as a newbie. Try Perthbullion for bullion, great range and best prices.

You don't need to keep records but just in case you get asked by the ATO, best to keep them ;)

Stackers FTW! Great choice for a few more $'s. Much easier to stack than Perth Mint 10oz

If you want to avoid tracking just decide what you want online and go visit them in person and buy over the counter.... Too easy dont buy over 5grand in one trsnsaction and you will not need any identification and paper work....
Best of luck and let us know how you go

Just another consideration. Some point early in your stacking, I would suggest a strategy on storage and security. Consider how large a stack you can forsee, and how you will keep it safe. Home safe ? Off site ? Secured box at a bank ? Combination of a few methods ? You just need to think what works best in your own situation.

    Hi and welcome.
I started stacking as a way of locking my savings away so I couldn't spend the cash, and it has now taken over my life!
There is nothing better than the feeling that you actually own something.
Read a lot. Discard half of the advice you are given and realize that you are going to make at least on dumb purchase on your stacking journey.
Have fun and we are all here so your not the only one that thinks its a good idea.

    Hi and welcome.

As a rule of thumb eBay is overpriced but every now and then you can find reasonable prices just beware of fakes. eBay is more for collectors than it is for investment purposes.

This site is great for acquiring PMs at fair prices. There are many reputable dealers around OZ, just don't spend more than 5K in one transaction as someone pointed above.

    Cheers

Just one small tip - Don't tell people where you store your PMs, as some people's 'safes' have not been so safe from this forum.

e-bay is expensive. don't you just love it when some people auction their coins off. Why would anyone want to pay more than what they have to over spot. Unless the coins or bars are rare.
I was on e-bay yesterday and looked around for silver bars. Old poured silver bars. What a great selection.
If your into older silver bars, e-bay has some really nice ones. $$$$$
