Is counterfeiting an issue with slabs?
I've noticed a number of Morgans and other US coins in slabs and I've always wondered if they are legitimate considering the propensity for Chinese counterfeits of these coins.

Paying a ridiculous premium for a slabbed coin is to me just as ridiculous as buying a mortgage backed security rated as AAA by one of the big three pre 2007.

To me if it's a BU coin it's a BU coin. Just because some "ratings agency" has deemed it's quality doesn't change that. I would never buy any BU coin if it was asking a premium just because it's slabbed. However I have considered getting my gold Pandas slabed just so I cam get them out of the poxy plastic sleeves without losing value because of doubts about authenticity.
