    That's nuts - might have to check the logs on that one to make sure it wasn't a spider bite.

    Wow - just checked the logs, all legitimate traffic - MSN was indexing at the time but it would only have appeared as a single user in the stats.

    Ha - I just made it up, basically when the site gets flooded with "users" that are actually poorly-behaving web crawlers (or spiders). MSN for example only indexes the site one thread every 10 seconds or so, and always from the same IP address, so it looks like just one user. There's been web crawlers in the past that have hit the site hard from 50 different IP addresses making it look like 50 guests just signed on at the same time, and they go nuts hitting the forum multiple times a second - almost like an inadvertent denial of service attack.
