Got my hands on some Metalor silver bullion. Just wondering if its as good as the others as I am not very familiar with it. Can anyone give me their expert opinion or experience?

Metalor is a London Bullion Market Association Good Delivery Referee so whatever you've got certainly isn't junk.

I wouldn't mind getting some Metalor bars just for variety. I know they do some smaller sizes.

If you look up the bar lists of the various bullion holders, SLV, BullionVault, GoldMoney, etc., you will see a lot of Metalor bars. So they are a major refiner like J&M and Heraus.

So a real hallmark and no worry of them being illegitimate. But when you want to resale them, you might have to educate the person you sell it to.

just as good but over here PM and PAMP are an easier sell.

Having said that you'll have no problem selling when the time comes.

Had some gold Metalor 1 oz certicards. Very nice with a 3 D bar code etched into it.

Still people prefer the Perth Mint and PAMP stuff over here.

I just purchased a Metalor 1kg bullion from eBay and i have a gut feeling it is a fake or something is wrong with it. It looks different to all the other Metalors i see available, it is so shiny (reflective that i can even see my face when i look at it) and dimensions dont match what i have come across online.

Can someone recommend how can i find out if its orginal or a copy/fake bullion?

    Im so angry :(

    Where are you located?

If you have digital scales that go to 2kg, you could do a quick specific gravity test.

Have you heard of fake Metalor bars before?

Contact Peter Davis (W Davis & Son) - he has an XRF machine that will tell you instantly.

I will try that very soon.

I have purchased from him not long ago, after only recently finding out about him. His premiums on silver and gold are quite low compared to other places in Melbourne. Purcahsed 3 X 1kg PAMP bars.

Thanks for your help. Will keep you updated. Might post a picture of the bullion i currently have and think is not what i was told.
