Never said I wouldn't take advantage. Will be happy to snap up real estate bargains when the time is right but I'm not twiddling my thumbs waiting until that happens.
This is the core issue. Our economies seem to be predicated on perpetual growth. It's the mother of all Ponzi schemes. At some point we'll have to expand into space or suffer the consequences of outgrowing our local planetary environment.
SS, #22 Without a doubt! Our economies, our trade transport, our resourses, our trade finance, etc are all stretched by over population and that is getting worse by the year. When one factor falls in a hole the others will follow and compound the problem. As I have said before, inter-dependent and inter-related. JMO OC
I don't want to watch a YouTube video titled: "Everything is going to be OK." Give me something about 9/11 was an inside job, Miley Cyrus the Illuminati puppet, $1000 silver, bigfoot caught on tape, police state America falls, death of the dollar, homosexuality inducing juice box linings, or FEMA camps, you know...the fun stuff.
The opening post sounds more like a prayer than an logical argument. Your human instincts to identify potential threats (even when they don't exist) have kept the human species going since your progenitors were dwelling in caves. Adhere to that instinct.
"Your human instincts to identify potential threats (even when they don't exist) have kept the human species going since your progenitors were dwelling in caves. Adhere to that instinct." An astute observation! OC
Depends on the scale of the threat though. At the individual and group level it has served us well. But on the scale of national and global existential threats, it's debatable wether our raw instincts have or will serve us well. And politicans have learned to use these instincts as a political tool to sway populations.
It might turn out that there is no shtf situation. But the consequences are so serious if there is, Its better not to take chances and to act as if it's inevitable.
Let's not forget, day in, day out, we are becoming desensitised to what is happening around us. Not unlike the frog in the pot. We will need a roster of meerkats on the forum to look out for us frogs.

Is that why you're the number #1 supporter of the carbon tax and other climate change initiatives? <<SilverPete goes into duck and cover mode>>
