I recently acquired me some 1990 Maples, however, I notice a few have what appears to be some light marks on them. The marks are like someone has pressed their thumb down on the coin and the thumb print has stayed. The coins are sealed in plastic, not a capsule and the marks don't seem to be the plastic as I can move the coins around in the plastic and the marks stay. Apologies for not having a photo - I actually took 17 but they are all of crap quality (new camera for me I think!) My question: Is this common with Maples of 1990 year to have some marks, even if in plastic? If so, how much, if at all will this detract from resale value. I purchased them with the intent of reselling once the price of silver increases to a certain point, so to a potential purchaser would they most likely acquire them for silver content, as opposed to numismatic value? Zargor
They are "milk" spots Very common on canadian coins such as maples and grizzlys... It's not your fault they just produced em that way somehow
Thanks guys - appreciate the responses. Given they are already sealed in the plastic, do you think I should take them out and clean them or leave them as is, in the sealed plastic? Zargor
yep thats right fishball theres a guy on the production line in charge of the milkspot section hahahaha
During warm weather such as we are enjoying here in the UK at the moment I like to strip off my clothing except for a tiny leopard skin posing pouch and lay in a bath of luke warm chicken fat. I then empty my stash of maples into the bath and rub them slowly all over my body for at least an hour. I must point out though, that this doesn't help to remove milk spots......I just enjoy doing it.
GP, can't you do something about this post, like deleting it immediately?? It's member's posts like these that are directly responsible for my constant nausea and flashbacks involving pasty, white skin blinding me. I won't even go into what the thought of Lurkalot in a leopard skin pouch does for me but it aint pretty. It's hell having to explain all this to my psychoanalyst. Zargor
"..... involving pasty, white skin blinding me." Zargor, was that you peeping through my bathroom window the other night?
