    Greetings all lunar fans.

I have a wife and four sons (yes, I know NOT your problem). Being a sentimental (or just mental) chap, now I'm a stacker, would like to addict (ahem) start their collections off with a lunar silver oz from their birth years (except the missus - who just gets whatever year the snake is).

From those of you you know the market, how hard is it to find the years 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2009 in one oz silver? And what year was the Snake (the missus)? How much is my sentimentality going to set me back?

    Your assistance appreciated!

2001 is snake or next year 2013.

If you want bullion 1oz Silver then those years shouldn't set you back that hard but proofs might take a LONG time to find.

Thanks fishball. I'm a cheapsake - just after the bullion rather than the proofs. But you just made my job a lot easier - with next year being the snake, I can get the missus one for the birthday after next!!!

The hard ones will be the series one -oh I wish I'd being a stacker at the turn of the century!!!

You're after the Horse, Monkey, Dog and Ox. These have all been trending up over the last few months, but have steadied over the last week or so because of the plunge in silver.

Price estimates in USD based on recent eBay auctions I've been tracking for the 1 oz.

    Horse - $85-95
    Monkey - $75-85
Dog - $68-75 (sometimes pushes $90 depending on condition)
    Ox - S1 - $85-90; S2 $50-65

Disagree with the ox pricing. If you offered a roll for $1500+ I dare say it would sell on the forum right now

Edit: At least in Australia that is, might be different in the US

    No thanks Giodor

Looking for those specific years/coins to match the boys' birth years. Although I must say, looking at the images of the coins, I believe I might be catching the lunar bug! :)

Many thanks Derrick - have been looking at eBay (well the AU version anyway) but haven't found a lot. (Wrong search parameters perhaps.) There's a 2002 Horse auctioning at the moment that's hit AUD100, not proof. Bit rich for me at this stage. But your input gives me a good guide.

Thanks also to Da-Shaz. Same reason - all data is good, no data is not so good!

    I paid $130 AU for a 1oz horse bullion last month... :p

It's the most expensive after dragon and snake imho.

Damn. Not so much damn at the price as at the "hen's teeth" side of things. That'll make life tricky!

Normally I'd say I'm just interested in the ones for the lads. But that bug is biting. As a matter of interest, no committment, would you mind PM me with your asking price, please?

You could buy Series II Gilded. They're still available from the mint albeit at a higher price

@ Nugget - I've looked at the gilded and while they look quite good, I really want to stick with the silver look for the boys. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

@PeeZapp - Having one with a two oz coin would cause more heartache than its worth!! These boys fight over small differences you and I would scarely notice! Thanks for the offer though.

    UPDATE

Now only looking for the 04 Monkey and the 06 Dog. My appreciation to the Stackers willing to help and offering coins from their collections.

I think it was the rabbit behaviour that caused the problem in the first place. :p
