I love the way this guy talk =D If anyone knows of any other good videos Kyle has done can you please add them here. How much do you want to give this BBC reporter a big slap in the face. In his first video, Kyle Bass discusses hedging against a country. For the more knowledgeable, how and who do you do this through? What is the minimum cost and timeframe? Apart from loosing the initial capital amount, what are the downsides to hedging?
What sold me on this guy is that he takes his fiduciary role super seriously.... i respect that soooooooo highly.
probably been posted before but I thought i'd put it here
here is another one.... not as recent though
Just found another new/old one from Nov. 2012 Interesting comment at the end about Japans' new President Shinzo Abe targeting 3% inflation to offset deflation, yet the country being so indebted that interest rates at 3% would be enough to make their debt unservicable. Bass made the point elswhere that Italy is so indebted that all it took was a 100 basis points rise (i.e. 1%) in their sovereign bond yeild to switch the country from 'honky-dory' to an economic basket case... "that's how springloaded this debt senario is."
Excellent responses from Kyle Bass but I found Sarah Montague to be very rude (Butting-in). A great interview spoilt by SM. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsCGI7s1SBg&feature=player_embedded He says buy Guns and Gold Too bluddy right! Edit Just to add to claw hammers (post 12) video in relation to the Japs. Peter Schiff speaks about the Gold, Silver, Japanese Yen, U.S. Dollar Prediction . really starts at 4:00 most interesting is the Q & A @ 33:00 http://media.chicagobooth.edu/mediasite/Viewer/?peid=f15d95d054e8442ab0cc1c60321383101d
Wow, Japan suffered an earthquake, triggering a tsunami, triggering a nuclear meltdow..... What a brilliant analogy to what is coming in their economy. How is this fiscal black hole going to effect the world economy? "If you boil the frog slowly, he doesnt know he is being boiled" slower inflation causes stock to rise but when its time to harvest you get as much money as needed to buy two eggs because inflation appreciated faster than stock inflation. Now do you realise why American government understating inflation is SOOOO important. There is no reason to fee safe in a rising asset that is denominated in a falling currency, when the falling currency falls faster than the rising asset rises. In mexico - the shock of losing 60% in the currency overnight caused a loss of 70% in the stock market in the next 40 days! These are important points
from around 55:00 "If you ask me what investment to make now, and then go to the beach for the next 10 years (spear fishing)... I would sell Yen and buy Gold, and then go to sleep, wake up ten years later and you'll be fine. That's the single best investment you can make."
96 million Japanese (everyone 14 and older) is going to need to preserve purchasing power or risk certain proverty... How many ways can you garantee preserving purchasing power? Obviously not all will buy gold - but here is the new retail demand the gold market needs.
New Video posted 14th March...lousy video and appalling audio..but it's new EDIT; this turns out to be just a youtube hosting of the link ValueCreator already posted.
