This seems to indicate Mintage UNC/Bullion: 1,269,168 http://www.krugerrandproof.com/1982-Quarter-Ounce-Proof-Krugerrand.html
The Kruger bullion mintage figures are all over the place, e.g. 1982 1/4 oz: 1,269,168 1983 1/4 oz: 63,687 1984 1/4 oz: 502,971
I know they're favoured by international south african terrorist criminal organisations who like to hold briefcases full in display format. Hollywood showed me. But I find them a totally uninspiring design and coin.
Really? Ever held a 1oz'er? For mine, the 1oz Kruger is the perfect gold coin/round. Mexican 1oz gold Libertad a close second
I've only had a bit of a look at one but felt it had a nice coppery industrial feel that appealed to me. If you didn't have to pay a premium for one over a pretty perth mint coin I'd grab one for sure.
They do look coppery somehow. Saw 6 of them for sale in Cash Converters - surprising. They were $1700 each. I told the shop clerk that I doubt they'd sell at that price, but what do I know, maybe there were rare years amongst them.
Beat me! Poor Mel. Just shows what a middle age crisis in a devoutly religious guilt stricken alcoholic can do to a man.
Probably they came from someone who thought that their 800 offer was good since that was the top when they bought them. I'd keep an eye on them since if they sell quickly then you'll know the mania is starting, and if the spot rises and they don't you may have a bargain if you're a continuous buyer.
Just realised that my 1/2 oz Kruger is 1991. According to that site, the 1991 1/2 oz proof mintage was 3,459, and there was no 1991 1/2 oz UNC/bullion. It's definitely legit (27.15mm, 17.00g). I checked the reeding and it is indeed a proof. Check your Krugers people
