As the title states Are the Perth mint going to remint any more older kooks, given most are still short of the 300k limit? Some are sold out and the mintage reached but many have not.
No- they have 'declared mintage' (and that really is final) of all kooks right up to and including 2012 http://www.perthmint.com.au//docume...ra_Silver_Bullion_Coin_Series_1990_-_2013.pdf
But but they had declared mintages before the remint, With only 87044 declared for 2006 now, there is plenty more that can be made, up to 300k. 213k ish coins is a lot. With the Perth mint I guess you should never say never. Isn't it stated some where that they can mint to the limits anytime before the series ends? Maybe I'm thinking lunars. Will go looking at the Perth mint site to see if I can find out more
Mmm that did not work I'll try to fix it The gist is no as was released on the 11/1/13 update to minting policy
http://www.perthmintbullion.com/au/blog/blog/13-01-11/Kookaburra_Mintage_Policy_Update.aspx It's here but I'm a numpty on a phone and can't get it to give me the screen shot. So it does look like the kooks have flown the coop

The Perth Mint may've missed out on short term sales...but secured long-term credibility in the marketplace for both the mint itself and it's products. I guarantee you that this move by the mint (cancelling re-strikes...and yes, I know that term is incorrect) is worth more in cash terms than the margin on a few coins.
I doubt that that's right. 'Declared mintage' is a term that appeared at the top of the RHS column of the pdf list after the unambiguous announcement of mintage completions was made in 2012-13. At least that's my memory of it. Yes, that statement used to be in effect but no longer is.
From Holdfast's link: "Kookaburra Mintage Policy Update January 11 2013 Topics [ Australian Kangaroo silver bullion coins Australian Lunar Australian Koala gold bullion coins Australian Kookaburra ] Posted By Ron Currie BULLION BARS AND COINS I announced details of our new Mintage Policy in November. There has been an update to the information I provided then, which I'd like to inform you about now. Previously I said that the Mint reserved the right to manufacture each 1oz release from the Australian Kookaburra silver bullion coin series up to its individual maximum mintage. What others have called a "re-striking", however, no longer applies. Having listened to a great deal of customer feedback, the policy has been amended so that we will no longer be making past 1oz Kookaburras that undersold their maximum mintage. As a result, we have closed production and declared final mintages for all 1oz Kookaburras and other unlimited denominations released between 1990 and 2012." http://www.perthmintbullion.com/au/blog/blog/13-01-11/Kookaburra_Mintage_Policy_Update.aspx
they could remint them and put them in a special wooden display box....or whatever box...just like lunar 2oz proofs
I don't see it as losing out on short term sales. Perth Mint ramped up production when silver prices were high. And now? Decided to cut back. Why? Customers response plus other factors of course ...
